Awareness is what happens when we connect ourselves, both internally and with the world. Internal connections make us whole; connections with the world give us the ability to relate genuinely and act skillfully. Appreciative awareness is what happens when we drop our judging for a moment and allow ourselves to be purely aware. To appreciate means to be sensitively aware of, to enjoy, and to effortlessly increase in value. Appreciation creates what many people describe as a "flow of positive energy" -- it is a kind of noticing that feels good, and this makes whatever we notice more valuable to us. It also clears up the critical voices that degrade our abilities and damage our relationships, and in this way also it increases the value of our lives. The Basic Shift: Noticing Appreciatively Notice something (good to start with a body part) with a negative judgement, then with a positive judgement, then be sensitively aware (no judgement) then find a way of being aware that creates a pleasurable feeling. |
